Further to the previous Summit Fleet update bulletin of 20th April 2011 regarding potential new vehicle stock delays more information has come to hand and we wish to advise as further clarity of the situation unfolds.
Current indications are that May and June production will be severely impacted leading to the most disruptive months for the Australian market supply through June, July and August.
We would like to emphasise that this information is based on what we currently know to date.
Parts supply shortages from Japan are affecting most plants, not only in Japan, around the world. Eg Most Toyota plants around the world are operating at approximately 40 – 50 percent of production volumes with some increase in production expected in August based on what is known currently.
Specific updates to Summit Fleet’s last bulletin as advised by TMC Australia include;
Toyota Hilux – Between 26th April and 4th June, production of Hilux models which are sourced from Toyota Thailand is estimated to be reduced by more than 50 per cent due to parts supply shortages from suppliers in Japan.
Locally Manufactured Toyota Camry & Aurion – The Altona plant in Melbourne will operate at a reduced schedule of 50 per cent in May. June production outlook will be confirmed in May subject to parts supply from Japan.
Whilst we have had no specific model updates from other distributors since our last bulletin there are certainly indications from our Key Dealer network that there is a definite ‘tightening’ of stock regarding Subaru Impreza, Liberty and Nissan X-Trail.
Since our previous bulletin, whilst it is still not 100 per cent clear, the intensity of the situation may see some stock shortages extend to non Japanese brands that utilise Japanese sourced parts through the balance of 2011.
Subsequently Summit Fleet recommends that your vehicle requirement plans are reviewed as soon as possible with a view to placing orders at the earliest opportunity to secure required stock as it begins to become available again.
If you require any further information on the status of existing orders or would like to discuss your vehicle or current lease options going forward, please contact your Summit Fleet Sales and Client Services Consultant.
Summit Fleet is continuing to work closely with manufacturers, distributors and our Key dealer network to ensure minimal disruption in the delivery process where possible and will advise you of further updates as the information becomes available.
